The Candy Cane headband is a tribute to the winter holidays, crispy frozen air, and the joy of unpacking presents. I wanted something small and festive to wear in December but couldn't find a headband I liked, so I designed this one.

Method

The headband is knit in the round in stranded colourwork, which makes it double thick and warm, then folded and sewn together with mattress stitch.

  • Instructions for adjusting the size, so the headband fits any head. No matter if you make it for yourself or as a gift, you can make sure it fits perfectly.

About the yarn

The sample was knitted in Sandnes Garn PetiteKnit Double Sunday in colourway 1012 Cream (C1) and Sandnes Garn Double Sunday in colourway 4219 Red (C2). Double Sunday is a soft, non-superwash, DK-weight merino wool.

You need about 33 g of each colour, so a single 50 g skein of each is enough, with a little left over.
