December is my favourite time to knit: the tree is up, the fairy lights are on, there is a clementine peel on the table and a candle burning next to the yarn. These tiny sweaters came out of exactly that mood. I wanted a Christmas ornament that looked like something I would actually wear, so I knit an Icelandic sweater small enough to hang from a branch.
Make one in an evening, or a whole set in the colours of your tree. They also make lovely little gifts, tied onto a parcel or slipped into a card.
Method
The mini sweater is knit in the round from the top down, just like a full-size Icelandic sweater: a little ribbed collar, a stranded colorwork yoke, then the body and two tiny sleeves. No seams, and it takes an evening.
